This is probably the upcoming Marriott Hotel that I’m most excited about … I think.
St. Regis Bermuda is about to open
The 120-room St. Regis Bermuda is accepting reservations for stays beginning May 22, 2021. This hotel has been in the pipeline for a long time, although the opening date was pending until recently.
The St. Regis is located in the town of St. George’s and is close to St. Catherine’s Beach. The hotel has all the amenities you would expect – two swimming pools, an all-day dining restaurant, a BLT Steak New York restaurant, an Iridium Spa and much more.
As of now there are few more pictures of the resort so we’ll have to wait and see how it looks in real life.
The base rooms at St. Regis Bermuda are spacious, although interestingly they are advertised as “no view”. I guess I appreciate the honesty of the hotel because usually hotels describe a not-so-great view in a beach resort as a resort view, garden view, or something similar. Or maybe the base rooms are just in front of a wall or something?

Booking the St. Regis Bermuda
The St. Regis Bermuda will be a Category 8 Marriott Bonvoy hotel, which means stays will cost either 70,000, 85,000, or 100,000 Bonvoy points, depending on whether prices are off-peak, standard, or off-peak.
We’ll see how prices go, but as of now, basic rooms seem to start at ~ $ 540 USD when paying for cash.
Unfortunately, this means that redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points is not particularly important. I estimate Bonvoy points to be ~ 0.7 cents each. So when you redeem 85,000 points for a room that costs $ 540, you’re not getting disproportionate value.
I’m surprised this isn’t a Category 7 (or maybe even a Category 6) property based on the prices, although the prices paid may get even higher.
Why I am excited about St. Regis Bermuda
It’s not the hotel as such that excites me so much, but Bermuda as a travel destination. Bermuda has been on my list of places to visit for many years – it’s not far from Miami, it’s a new destination for me, and it generally fascinates me because of its geography and history.
However, it’s a goal that I never really prioritized, so it just stayed on my bucket list the entire time. I think one of the reasons I didn’t visit is the hotel situation. There weren’t any good points hotels there, and I often prioritize my goals at least a little according to hotel options.
I kind of postponed my Bermuda visit until the St. Regis opens as it’s the perfect combination of a nice new points hotel and a destination I wanted to visit.
If anyone has been to Bermuda I’d love to hear how your experience was!
Bottom line
The St. Regis Bermuda is expected to open in May 2021 and should be the best points hotel on the island. Bermuda has long fascinated me so hopefully I can finally visit later this year as soon as things get back to normal and even when this hotel is open.
Shame the value proposition for redeeming points at the St. Regis isn’t exactly great as it is a Category 8 property.
Anyone else excited about the St. Regis Bermuda?
