I can’t even put into words how happy that made me …
I loved the Alaska Airlines safety dance from the start …
In December 2020 we had the pleasure of seeing Alaska Airlines’ safety dance for the first time:
It’s just so adorable and catchy and amazing and fun. What I like even more is that there are real Alaska Airlines employees who shot the video in a hangar for three days. They were given the routine of practicing at home, then there was an eight-hour dress rehearsal, and then the actual filming took place over two days.
For those who couldn’t understand the lyrics, here they are:
SECURITY security dance /
We can fly wherever you want, we can leave your house behind, but if your friends don’t mask and why don’t they mask well, they won’t fly this airline.
You can fly if you want because we’re making security right. We have clean air and disinfection machines that zap germs like an arcade space fight.
And we dance, do the dance, everyone washes some hands
Do the dance, do the dance while always wearing a mask /
Do the dance, do the dance, no seriously please wash your hands
Dance, dance, HEPA filter cleaning starts /
Alaska’s safety dance, Alaska’s safety dance, Alaska’s safety dance …
… but the oneworld version, OMG!
With Alaska Airlines joining oneworld today, there is a new “global” safety dance that includes both executives and frontline staff from oneworld partner airlines:
There is so much to love about this video, and at the same time it puts the biggest smile on my face and also makes me miss international travel endlessly. From the CEO of oneworld, Rob Gurney, to the President of American Airlines, Robert Isom, to the employees of Fiji Airways, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, S7 Airlines, SriLankan Airways and others, I just can’t stop thinking about this to look at. IT IS SO GOOD. The only thing that could make this video even better would be if Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, attended because I feel like he would have some great dance moves.
Bottom line
Now that Alaska Airlines is a member of the oneworld alliance, there’s a new “global” safety dance going on, and I dare say to myself that it’s not amazing (and if you do, you won’t even do it to me, You’re just a nag). Thank you to everyone who attended for this much needed entertainment, all with great news.
What do you think of Alaska Airlines’ new global safety dance? Is it the best you’ve ever seen or do you love it?
