Staying on-site at Walt Disney World is always a personal pleasure, but of course there are certain resorts that I like more than others, and my all-time favorite so far is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. I’ve long been a fan of the WPA-style national park aesthetic that the lodge captures so skillfully. Appearance aside, however, there are many reasons to choose Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, including these key factors.

Copper Creek Villas ambience and amenities
In my opinion, there are few better moments at Disney World than your first entry into the main lobby of Wilderness Lodge. Designed to be a mix of several Western destinations, the beautiful handicraft details found throughout the property blend everything together well. To reinforce this western parks theme, the lobby itself even has an active geyser and massive 55-foot totem poles. However, this stretches all over the resort with pine trees and rustic foothills that complete the illusion of being transported far away from Florida.

The service at Wilderness Lodge & Copper Creek Villas is incredible with two full-service restaurants, although the experience of changes in the COVID era may be a little different than previous years. As at all Disney resorts, there is an on-site game room with the latest arcade games, a photo booth, and air hockey. There are two pools at Wilderness Lodge: The main pool, near Copper Creek Falls, has a waterslide, as well as an adjacent hot tub and a special fenced-in splash pad for younger children. At night there are bonfires and S’Mores kits with many other special events and activities on offer throughout the week.
Reflecting the incredible colors and design of the West and the Pacific Northwest, Wilderness Lodge is one of the best resorts on-site to offer a real opportunity to get away from it all.

Easy access to the park
Of course, one of the top reasons to stay at Walt Disney World is easy access to the parks themselves, and the Wilderness / Copper Creek Villas are one of the best located on the property. Located on the shores of Bay Lake, the hotel is officially in the Magic Kingdom area of Walt Disney World, one of my favorite places. Buses connect guests to all areas of the property. For something different, however, consider taking the boat that connects Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom.

The Copper Creek Room!
The wilderness is a little different from other resorts as it is divided into different sections. The Wilderness Lodge itself is just a normal Disney resort that anyone can easily book. The other two areas are part of the Disney timeshare program: Copper Creek Villas and Boulder Ridge. Even so, non-members can book space in these slightly nicer rooms and villas directly through the website, as I did for my incredible stay at Copper Creek Villas. These rooms are still in the main building of the Wilderness Lodge. They are only slightly larger and have recently been renovated than some of the other rooms on site.
The 220 villas are studio, one, two bedroom and grand villa units in the wing to the right of the lodge. The studios offer kitchenettes. One, two and grand villas have fully equipped kitchens. The lodge’s rustic decor extends to the villas, with subtle details that reinforce the dramatic statement pieces first found in the lobby.

Disney Magic
After all, the reason a lot of people choose to stay on the Walt Disney World property is one that can’t really be fully articulated. it’s supposed to be enveloped in the Disney magic. When you stay at a Disney resort like Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, no details are forgotten and you will be reminded at every turn why they are the best in the world. For many, it is sometimes (but not always) worth paying a little more, never leaving that happy bubble. That is why they primarily travel to Walt Disney World. I’ve experimented with both on and off real estate for the past several years and couldn’t agree with the appeal of staying in the bubble. It’s not how I always choose to visit, but when I do, the trips get even more special.
